Course Overview

Description

The ICTNWK422 Install and Manage Servers unit provides learners with the skills and knowledge required to install, configure, and manage server systems in a networked environment. The course covers the installation and configuration of various server types, including file, web, and application servers, and ensures learners understand the hardware and software requirements for each. Students will explore the processes involved in setting up and maintaining server operating systems, such as Windows Server and Linux, as well as the essential tasks related to server security, user access management, and performance monitoring. Emphasis is placed on understanding network services like DNS, DHCP, and Active Directory, and how these services contribute to the smooth operation of a network.

In addition to installation and configuration, learners will develop skills in ongoing server management, including system backups, troubleshooting, and ensuring server uptime. The course also covers server patching and updates to maintain system security and stability. Learners will practice resolving common server issues, optimising server performance, and managing server resources effectively.
